1. I'm applying for a position in a new company. How can I show what I know and what would be important to the company?

You can prepare a Knowledge Portfolio with KMI FolioOne. This will list every class/learning experience you have taken. If the company is a subscriber to KMI FolioOne, then you can apply directly to this company using KMI FolioOne and your personal Knowledge Portfolio. The company will then be able to view your Knowledge Portfolio and if they decide to hire you as an employee, then you will be linked to the company and your Knowledge Portfolio will be entered into their Knowledge Base, which they can search for knowledge.

2. I am a manager/supervisor in a company. How can I find people most qualified to fill a position?

Use KMI FolioOne to build a database of every class or learning experience each employee has taken. Search on the title of the class or learning experience to find the names of people who have studied the topic (or topics). In a matter of minutes you will have names of people to consider and a direct link to their personal Knowledge Portfolio that you can study in greater detail.

3. I am a school superintendent. How would KMI FolioOne be useful to me?

FolioOne assists administrators by providing access to data for strategic planning, decision-making, tracking and reporting of the knowledge that individual employees have acquired from both internal and external sources. It allows districts to capitalize on the districts collective organizational knowledge to meet federal, state, and local requirements. Future professional development or certification requirements can be documented in planning portfolios for all activities designed to enhance teacher quality. In addition, applicant portfolios can be established and will provide a searchable database of applicant information.

Every class that a student took in your school would be entered in each student's Knowledge Portfolio. Every extra-curricular activity (debate, football, chorus, etc.) would also be entered. You can show the school board, the state department of Education and parents the extent of school activities. You can also track the further education and activities of alumni and use this data for required reporting needs.

4. I am an Alumni Association Director and also serve as a placement director of a University. What can I do with KMI FolioOne?

As a placement director you can match people with certain knowledge to meet inquiries of recruiters. As Alumni Director you can encourage alumni to use KMI FolioOne to keep their knowledge portfolio up-to-date. This data will be useful in fund raising and tracking progress of alumni. This data will also be appropriate for public relations.

A Knowledge Portfolio of a child's education, including extra-curricular activities, is always available as a child progresses. This written record will stimulate the child to plan their activities. The record is a valuable adjunct to a resume in applying for part-time or full-time work.

Topics that a person has studied are direct indicators of that person's interests. This could be the basis for selecting people most likely to buy a certain product.

You could use it to (1) determine the extent of and specific knowledge of employees, (2) match employees with needed knowledge to appropriate positions and (3) assist in planning future products in terms of knowledge of existing employees and knowledge needed for new employees.

8. I am a Management Consultant. Will KMI FolioOne assist in selling my services?

You will be able to perform a unique service with KMI FolioOne. You can help a company set up a database of employee knowledge and show how it can be used to improve efficiency of using employee talents. You can set up learning programs for employees at all levels, from janitor to president.

9. I have been asked by the local chamber of commerce to develop a plan for community economic development. How can I use KMI FolioOne?

A primary thrust of economic development is the quality of the workforce. A higher level of education and training yields a better workforce. An inventory of the knowledge of a community workforce, or a sampling of it, would be a powerful tool of interest to prospective industries. Additionally, a well-organized education and training system, customized for the needs of a prospective company would be a major incentive. Both of these programs can be managed with KMI FolioOne.

(1) Show this is a tool that can be used to tabulate the needs of local business and industries and match university classes to these needs.
(2) List the entry catalogue of the university on the web and show how companies can use it to meet specific needs.
(3) Extend university services to that portion of the population that does not attend the university by offering lifetime learning experiences.
